# Cimarex Energy

> Cimarex Energy Co. (NYSE: XEC) was an independent oil and gas exploration and

**Status: defunct — merged.** Cimarex Energy publishes no developer program, no
public API, and no machine-readable contract of any kind. Its historic domain,
cimarex.com, still resolves through Cloudflare but the origin no longer presents
a valid TLS certificate, so every path on it answers HTTP 526. No developer,
api, docs or data subdomain of cimarex.com resolves in DNS. No first-party
client library exists on npm, PyPI or any other public registry, and there is no
`cimarex` GitHub organization.

Agents looking for a current corporate or operational surface for this entity
should follow the successor company, Coterra Energy, and note that Coterra
itself announced a definitive all-stock merger agreement with Devon Energy on
2 February 2026.
