# ClearBank

> ClearBank is a UK clearing and Banking-as-a-Service bank (founded 2015, first new UK clearing bank in 250+ years), authorised by the PRA and regulated by the FCA and PRA (FRN 754568). It is a direct participant in Faster Payments, CHAPS and Bacs and exposes Agency, Embedded and Transaction Banking through a single token-authenticated, RSA-signed JSON REST API — the ClearBank Financial Institutions API. Authentication is a bearer API token plus a DigitalSignature (RSA-SHA256) header over the request body, with a mandatory X-Request-Id idempotency key (24h duplicate window). Payment initiation is asynchronous (202 Accepted) with outcomes delivered over signed webhooks.
