# EnergyAustralia > EnergyAustralia is one of Australia's "big three" gentailers — a vertically integrated > electricity and gas business owned by Hong Kong's CLP Group, headquartered in Melbourne, > generating from Yallourn, Mount Piper and Hallett alongside wind assets, and retailing to > more than 1.7 million residential and business customers across Victoria, New South Wales, > Queensland, South Australia and the ACT. Its entire API footprint exists because of the > Australian Consumer Data Right, not because of a product strategy. ## What actually exists EnergyAustralia publishes no developer portal, no proprietary OpenAPI, no SDK, no MCP server, no sandbox, and no open market or generation data. There is no route from "developer signs up" to "reads EnergyAustralia data". Two distinct surfaces carry its name: 1. **Public product reference data** — live, unauthenticated, and hosted by the Australian Energy Regulator, not by EnergyAustralia. In CDR banking each bank stands up its own public product endpoint; in CDR energy the AER is the designated data holder for product data and serves every retailer from one gateway on a per-brand path. Verified 2026-07-27: HTTP 200, 1,122 published EnergyAustralia plans (265 of them GAS). 2. **Consumer data sharing** — mandated, registered, standards-bound and live, but reachable only by an ACCC-accredited Data Recipient holding an individual customer's active consent, over mutual TLS with CDR Register-issued certificates and a FAPI 1.0 Advanced authorisation. The registered host answered HTTP 404 to every standards path probed anonymously. Open on plans, closed on everything else. ## APIs - [EnergyAustralia CDR Energy Plans API](https://cdr.energymadeeasy.gov.au/energyaustralia/cds-au/v1/energy/plans): Public, unauthenticated Consumer Data Right energy Product Reference Data for the EnergyAustralia brand. Requires an `x-v` header. `GET /energy/plans` answers at x-v 1; `GET /energy/plans/{planId}` requires x-v 3. - [EnergyAustralia CDR Discovery Status API](https://cdr.energymadeeasy.gov.au/energyaustralia/cds-au/v1/discovery/status): Public health-check and scheduled-outage endpoints for the brand path. The only operational-health contract published under the EnergyAustralia name. - [EnergyAustralia CDR Energy Consumer Data Sharing API](https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/home/help-support/faqs/consumer-data-right): Accredited-only. Energy accounts, invoices, billing, balances, concessions, payment schedules, electricity service points, interval usage and DER register data. Base URI https://authncdr.energyaustralia.com.au as published in the ACCC CDR Register. ## Specs - [CDR Energy API 1.36.0](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/energyaustralia/refs/heads/main/openapi/energyaustralia-cds-energy-api-openapi.yml): OpenAPI 3.0.3, 18 paths, 23 operations. The shared Data Standards Body contract, saved verbatim — not an EnergyAustralia-authored spec. - [CDR Common API 1.36.0](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/energyaustralia/refs/heads/main/openapi/energyaustralia-cds-common-api-openapi.yml): OpenAPI 3.0.3, 4 paths, 4 operations. Apply to the ACCC, pass accreditation (or use an accredited intermediary / CDR representative), onboard to the CDR Register, obtain transport and signing certificates, register a software product, then obtain per-consumer consent. - [Consumer Data Standards](https://consumerdatastandardsaustralia.github.io/standards/): The normative contract, security profile, error codes and non-functional requirements. - [AER Energy Made Easy plan data FAQ](https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/frequently-asked-questions/how-can-i-get-access-to-the-energy-made-easy-plan-data): How the public product data gateway works. - [ACCC CDR Register brand summary](https://api.cdr.gov.au/cdr-register/v1/energy/data-holders/brands/summary): Authoritative record that EnergyAustralia is a live registered energy data holder (dataHolderBrandId 1cc7833a-b834-ed11-a832-000d3a8830d6). ## Company - [EnergyAustralia](https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/): Corporate site. Note: Akamai bot management resets the HTTP/2 stream for non-browser clients, so the corporate site is not machine-readable. - [Consumer Data Right FAQ](https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/home/help-support/faqs/consumer-data-right): EnergyAustralia's own CDR customer explainer.
