# IFS > IFS is a global enterprise software company (HQ Linköping, Sweden) providing cloud ERP, > enterprise asset management (EAM), field service management (FSM) and enterprise service > management (ESM) on the IFS Cloud platform, for manufacturing, energy, aerospace, defense > and service industries. > > This file is an independent, third-party profile written by API Evangelist > (https://apievangelist.com). It is NOT published by IFS. Everything in it was read from > IFS's own public pages on 2026-09-13; each claim names the page it came from. > generated: 2026-09-13 · method: generated · source: apis.yml + this repository's artifacts ## What the API actually is IFS Cloud APIs are **OData v4 projection services**, not a public SaaS API. They run inside each customer's own IFS Cloud environment. There is no shared IFS-operated API host, no public developer signup that yields API credentials, and no anonymously reachable OpenAPI document. - Endpoint shape: `https:///main/ifsapplications/projection/v1/.svc/` - Methods: GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE - Query options: `$filter`, `$select`, `$orderby`, `$top`, `$skip`, `$expand` - Metadata: `.svc/$metadata` - Per-projection **OpenAPI v3 and v2** specs are generated and browsable from the in-product **API Explorer** — authenticated, tenant-local. - Auth: OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect via IFS IAM. Token endpoint `https:///auth/realms//protocol/openid-connect/token`, scope `openid microprofile-jwt`, Bearer JWT. Basic auth exists on the endpoints only for upgrade convenience and is explicitly not for integrations. - Authorization is by **permission sets and projection grants**, not OAuth scopes. ## API classes (IFS's own tiering) - **Premium** — comprehensive docs, compatibility maintained across releases, early warning and migration guidance, old and new versions considered in parallel for at least one release. - **Standard** — specs and docs provided; a list of breaking changes accompanies service and release updates. Standard APIs are *atomic* — a structured inbound message must be split into several calls by middleware. - **StandardEntity** — requires administrator activation; only for IFS Cloud configuration tools and trusted system-to-system integration. - Any class can additionally be marked **Deprecated**. ## Developer surface - [IFS Developer Portal](https://developer.ifs.com/): free first-party developer tools, a dated news feed, getting-started and FAQ stories. No login required. - [IFS Technical Documentation](https://docs.ifs.com/): per-release (24R1 … 26R1) technical docs, including integration, security and development-tool reference. - [IFS Community](https://community.ifs.com/): support and Q&A; also where the per-release deprecation log is published (account required). - [IFS Blog](https://blog.ifs.com/) ## Policies that matter to an integrator - [API Usage Policy for IFS Cloud](https://docs.ifs.com/policy/APIUsageCloud.pdf) — API types, access rules, API classes. Note: support for *how* to use an API is not covered by most IFS support agreements. - [Deprecation and Removal Policy](https://docs.ifs.com/policy/DeprecationPolicy/) — a feature in release R stays available and functional for **24 months** from that release's GA; a feature deprecated in R may be removed in R+1 or later. - [API breaking-change reports](https://developer.ifs.com/stories/api_diff) — per-release .xlsm workbooks (26R1, 25R2, 25R1, 24R2) plus release-to-release diffs. - [IFS Cloud Services SLA](https://www.ifs.com/en/legal) — 99.5% availability target per production environment, with service credits and a termination right. - [Trust Center](https://www.ifs.com/en/about/trust-center) — ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 9001, TickIT Plus, NIST SP 800-171 alignment, GDPR. ## Events No AsyncAPI is published. IFS documents two asynchronous surfaces: outbound messages/events via **IFS Connect** (customer-configured routing to HTTP, REST, mail, file, FTP/SFTP), and **IFS Cloud Interoperability**, which moves **CloudEvents** between IFS Cloud and the IFS.ai platform over Oracle Advanced Queues. ## Tooling - **Script-A-Rest** (v3.0.0) — first-party CLI for the IFS Cloud OData APIs; also an API-level integration test runner. `ScriptARest.exe ServerUrl=… FileToRead=…` - **IFS Developer Studio** (18) — model-driven server-side development (MARBLE, PL/SQL, Java) - **IFS Cloud Development Kit** — VS Code extension, early preview (v0.0.9) - No IFS-published client SDK exists on npm, PyPI, NuGet, Maven Central or any other registry. ## What IFS does NOT publish - Any anonymously reachable OpenAPI, AsyncAPI or GraphQL document - Any `/.well-known/` discovery document, on any IFS host - An llms.txt (www.ifs.com/robots.txt disallows `/llms.txt`, but that path returns 404) - An A2A agent card, or a first-party MCP server - A public status page, a public pricing page, a security.txt, or a vulnerability disclosure policy ## Repository artifacts - authentication/ifs-authentication.yml — the OIDC/IAM profile - scopes/ifs-scopes.yml — why IFS has almost no scopes - conventions/ifs-conventions.yml — OData semantics, concurrency, and the idempotency gap - lifecycle/ifs-lifecycle.yml — API classes, deprecation, SLA - conformance/ifs-conformance.yml — OData v4, OpenAPI, OAuth2/OIDC, CloudEvents, certifications - asyncapi/ifs-events.yml — the event and outbound-message surface - changelog/ifs-changelog.yml — dated developer-tool releases and the release scheme - cli/ifs-cli.yml — Script-A-Rest - packages/ifs-packages.yml — first-party tools; zero registry SDKs - security/ifs-domain-security.yml, security/ifs-trust-center.yml - well-known/ifs-well-known.yml — a recorded absence across eight hosts
