# Klara

> Klara is a US healthcare patient-engagement and communication platform, now part of Modernizing Medicine (ModMed). It gives medical practices two-way HIPAA-compliant secure messaging, patient texting, appointment reminders and scheduling, intake and forms, telehealth, and automated workflow tools that reduce phone volume and staff workload. Klara does not publish its own self-serve public developer API; it integrates with 50+ EHR/practice-management systems and is listed as a partner app in ModMed's synapSYS marketplace. The ONC-certified HL7 FHIR R4 / SMART-on-FHIR developer program belongs to parent ModMed's EHR products, not to the Klara messaging product itself.
