# LeapYear Technologies > LeapYear Technologies built an enterprise platform for differentially private analytics and machine learning, letting organizations compute over sensitive data — and share it across silos and partners — with mathematically proven privacy guarantees. The company was acquired by Snowflake in February 2023 and no longer operates independently. IMPORTANT STATUS: This provider is DISCONTINUED. Snowflake announced its intent to acquire LeapYear on 2023-02-07 and closed the acquisition on 2023-02-10 for USD 62.0 million in cash, primarily for talent and developed technology. The technology was folded into Snowflake's Global Data Clean Room offering. Do not attempt to sign up for, purchase, or integrate with LeapYear — there is no live product, no public API endpoint, and no support channel. The former marketing domain (leapyear.io) is now controlled by Snowflake and serves the acquisition announcement for every path. ## What it was LeapYear Core was licensed, self-hosted enterprise software — not a public multi-tenant API. Customers ran their own server; analysts and data scientists reached it through a first-party Python client. Every computation drew down a quantified differential-privacy exposure budget, and the server refused or interrupted computations that would exceed the configured limit or that ran against datasets too small to answer privately. ## Surviving documentation - [Python client API reference (v4.1.1)](https://leapyear-python-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/4.1.1/): the only live first-party documentation. Modules: leapyear, leapyear.admin, leapyear.admin.grants, leapyear.jobs, leapyear.dataset, leapyear.functions, leapyear.feature, leapyear.analytics, leapyear.model, leapyear.exceptions, leapyear.ext. - [Getting started / connecting](https://leapyear-python-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/4.1.1/tutorial.html): `Client(url, username, password)` against a customer-operated server. - [Exception reference](https://leapyear-python-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/4.1.1/api/exceptions.html): the platform's error contract. ## Acquisition record - [Snowflake announcement](https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/snowflake-to-acquire-leapyear/) - [Snowflake 10-Q disclosing the $62.0M purchase](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1640147/000164014723000199/snow-20230731.htm) - [Fenwick deal record](https://www.fenwick.com/insights/experience/fenwick-represents-leapyear-in-acquisition-by-snowflake) ## Artifacts in this API Evangelist repo - [Packages](packages/leapyear-technologies-packages.yml): three first-party npm packages (leapyear-graphql-api, leapyear-graphql-client, leapyear-ui-kit), all last published 2022-05-07 and unmaintained; the Python client was never on PyPI. - [Authentication](authentication/leapyear-technologies-authentication.yml): username/password to a self-hosted server, token-backed session, public-key credentials, TLS. No OAuth, no OIDC, no API keys, no scopes. - [Error codes](errors/leapyear-technologies-error-codes.yml): 21 documented exception classes, including the differential-privacy budget enforcement family. - [Conventions](conventions/leapyear-technologies-conventions.yml): access style, async jobs, coupled client/server versioning, grant-based authorization. No idempotency, pagination, or rate-limit semantics were ever published. - [Lifecycle](lifecycle/leapyear-technologies-lifecycle.yml): end-of-life record and per-host probe results. - [Domain security](security/leapyear-technologies-domain-security.yml): probe of the now-parked leapyear.io domain. ## Not available No OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, GraphQL schema, MCP server, agent skills, CLI, sandbox, status page, changelog, roadmap, pricing, signup, support channel, trust center, vulnerability disclosure program, or /.well-known/ discovery documents. These were either never published or went down with the company. Nothing in this repo fabricates them. ## Successor For the capability rather than the company, see Snowflake's differential privacy and data clean room features, which incorporate LeapYear's technology.
