# OpenIO > OpenIO SDS is an open-source, software-defined object storage platform for building hyper-scalable, high-performance storage infrastructures. It exposes data through an Amazon S3-compatible gateway and an OpenStack Swift-compatible gateway, with native Python, C and Java client libraries and an `openio` command-line interface. OpenIO was acquired by OVHcloud in 2020; the SDS project remains publicly documented. ## APIs - [S3-Compatible Object Storage API](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/arch-design/s3_compliancy.html): Amazon S3-compatible gateway (Signature v2/v4, versioning, lifecycle, CORS, tagging, ACLs, multipart). - [OpenStack Swift API](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/user-guide/swiftapi.html): Swift-compatible gateway. - [Native oio-sds service APIs](https://docs.openio.io/latest/): RAWX, Conscience, Directory, Container, Content, Account, Reverse-Directory REST services. ## Docs - [Documentation home](https://docs.openio.io/latest/) - [Identity and Access Management (IAM)](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/arch-design/iam.html) - [S3 Compliance reference](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/arch-design/s3_compliancy.html) - [Python API example](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/sdk-guide/python_example.html) - [C API example](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/sdk-guide/c_example.html) - [Java API example](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/sdk-guide/java_example.html) ## Tools - [openio end-user CLI](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/user-guide/openiocli.html) - [AWS S3 CLI compatibility](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/user-guide/awscli.html) - [OpenStack Swift CLI compatibility](https://docs.openio.io/latest/source/user-guide/swiftcli.html) ## Source - [GitHub organization (open-io)](https://github.com/open-io) - [oio-sds core repository](https://github.com/open-io/oio-sds) ## Enrichment artifacts (API Evangelist) - authentication/openio-authentication.yml - conformance/openio-conformance.yml - cli/openio-cli.yml - packages/openio-packages.yml - lifecycle/openio-lifecycle.yml - conventions/openio-conventions.yml - security/openio-domain-security.yml
