<p>
     I pulled a list of the <a href="http://www.programmableweb.com/apis/directory/1?maxdays=360&amp;sort=date">2023 APIs that were added to the ProgrammableWeb API directory</a> in 2011.  I took the description column and used <a title="World to Generate Tag Cloud" href="http://www.wordle.net/create">Wordle to generate a tag cloud</a> for 2011.  I think tag clouds can provide a 100K view of where people are focusing their APIs.
