I had began engaging with Derek's team about the importance of maintaining OpenAPI specs while generating code on Bluesky, and they agreed to have Derek come and share more of his expertise with me on the subject. I was very pleased to hear that first, they weren't focused on client SDKs, and they are generating boilerplate server code, mock servers, and all the details that go with that. I was also very satisfied to hear of their embrace of OpenAPI, but also overlays and Arazzo. I enjoyed Derek's expertise in both API but also AI, and his focus on the developer, as well as respect for OpenAPI.
This is exactly the conversation I was looking to have. I am not looking to just AI bash, I am looking to help distinguish the real work going on from the AI hype and distraction. I am also interestd in defending the work needed to be done at the OpenAPI layer by teams, and the intellectual property that exists here for enterprises that they seem so willing to just give away. I came away with a better understanding of how Derek and [Ambassador are building on OpenAPI, overlays, and Arazzo, and how they are enabling teams to evolve, iterate, and learn API artifiacts](https://bit.ly/43mU4bw). I look forward to learning from Derek when it comes to overlays and Arazzo and will definitely be having him back for more conversations--thanks Derek and Ambassador!!
