# Procyrion

> Procyrion, Inc. is a privately held, clinical-stage medical device company headquartered in Houston, Texas, founded in 2005. It develops Aortix, a catheter-deployed percutaneous mechanical circulatory support (pMCS) pump placed in the descending thoracic aorta, which uses fluid entrainment to unload the heart and increase perfusion to the kidneys. It is led by CEO Ben Hertzog.

Procyrion is a medical hardware and clinical-research business, not a software vendor. As of 2026-08-05 it publishes **no public API, no developer portal, no API documentation, no SDK and no machine-readable API contract**. Its web presence is a Webflow marketing site. Do not assume or invent an `api.procyrion.com`, `docs.procyrion.com`, `developer.procyrion.com`, `portal.procyrion.com` or `status.procyrion.com` endpoint — none of those hosts resolve in DNS. `/openapi.json`, `/swagger.json`, `/graphql`, `/llms.txt`, `/.well-known/security.txt`, `/.well-known/agent-card.json` and `/.well-known/agent.json` all return 404 on www.procyrion.com.

Aortix is limited by federal law to investigational use and is **not approved for sale in any geography**. Statements about it should be read as investigational, not commercial.

## Technology

Aortix is a catheter-deployed pump implanted in the descending thoracic aorta in a minimally invasive procedure. It reduces pressure upstream in the aortic root and raises it downstream, lowering systemic vascular resistance so the heart works less while renal perfusion increases. Four indications are described by the company: acute decompensated heart failure with diuretic resistance; renal support to prevent acute kidney injury during cardiac surgery; cardiac unloading to limit myocardial infarct size; and longer-term chronic heart failure therapy. Clinical evaluation currently focuses on the first two.
