## Primary purpose

SouthendOnSea.city is best used for exploring and taking part in informal Southend community propositions. It also provides source-linked reporting, public data, practical city information and the Southend Science Exhibition.

## Site sections

- **Vote and Propositions:** original, independently operated community questions with evidence, arguments, deadlines, privacy information and aggregate email-verified response totals.
- **Publication approval:** safety-screened pending propositions require 10 unique email-verified publication approval votes before Agree, Disagree and Unsure voting opens. Publication approval is not a vote on the proposition itself.
- **Public Opinion Observatory:** fixed-cutoff monthly editions, live proposition totals, separately counted contact-verified responses, full methodology, limitations and privacy-safe CSV/JSON downloads.
- **City Watch:** the reporting section for official-source local news and community-safety briefings. City Watch is one section of SouthendOnSea.city, not the name or purpose of the entire platform.
- **City information:** Southend history, planning guidance, community organisations and practical local resources.
- **Southend Science Exhibition:** an online-first 2027 exhibition and demand test. The event date is TBA and no physical venue is confirmed. Private provisional entries are published only after moderation; People’s Choice uses email-verified voting when finalists open.
