> UniversityNow, Inc. (uNow) was a San Francisco-based higher-education startup (founded 2011, backed by 500 Startups/500 Global) that built competency-based, self-paced online degree programs. It operated New Charter University and acquired Patten University in 2012. Its competency-based learning platform was sold to Penn Foster Education Group (2016) and to National University System (2018). The company is defunct: unow.com now serves an expired certificate and redirects to a dead newuni.com page. No public API surface exists.
