# Volterra

> Volterra was a distributed cloud company (VoltMesh multi-cloud networking and security, VoltStack edge application deployment) founded in 2017 and acquired by F5 in January 2021 for approximately $500M. It became the foundation of F5 Distributed Cloud Services; the Volterra API surface (ves.io.schema, console.ves.volterra.io) is catalogued under the F5 Distributed Cloud Services profile.

This profile is maintained by API Evangelist as part of the APIs.io index. Volterra no longer operates as a standalone company: www.ves.io no longer serves a valid TLS certificate and volterra.io redirects to www.f5.com. The Volterra-branded developer tooling below remains published and maintained by F5.
