# API Direct MCP Server Search X, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Truth Social, Trustpilot, Amazon, Google Maps, news, forums and the web from any MCP client. API Direct runs a hosted [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server at `https://apidirect.io/mcp`. There is nothing to install or run: point your client at the URL and send your API key. Every tool is read-only. - **Endpoint:** `https://apidirect.io/mcp` (Streamable HTTP) - **Auth:** your API key in an `X-API-Key` header, or `Authorization: Bearer `. Clients that only take a URL can use `https://apidirect.io/mcp?token=YOUR_API_KEY`. - **Registry name:** `io.apidirect/api-direct` in the [official MCP registry](https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io) - **Pricing:** 50 free requests per endpoint every month, no credit card. Then pay per request; see [pricing](https://apidirect.io/endpoints). ## Get an API key 1. Sign up at [apidirect.io](https://apidirect.io/signup?utm_source=github). 2. Copy a key from [Dashboard > API Keys](https://apidirect.io/dashboard/keys). Keys start with `ak_live_`. ## Connect your client ### Claude Code ```bash claude mcp add --transport http api-direct https://apidirect.io/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" ``` ### Claude Desktop and claude.ai Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, with this URL: ``` https://apidirect.io/mcp?token=YOUR_API_KEY ``` ### Cursor `~/.cursor/mcp.json`: ```json { "mcpServers": { "api-direct": { "url": "https://apidirect.io/mcp", "headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY" } } } } ``` ### VS Code `.vscode/mcp.json`: ```json { "inputs": [ { "type": "promptString", "id": "api-direct-key", "description": "API Direct API key", "password": true } ], "servers": { "api-direct": { "type": "http", "url": "https://apidirect.io/mcp", "headers": { "X-API-Key": "${input:api-direct-key}" } } } } ``` ### Cline `cline_mcp_settings.json`: ```json { "mcpServers": { "api-direct": { "type": "streamableHttp", "url": "https://apidirect.io/mcp", "headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY" } } } } ``` ### Windsurf `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`: ```json { "mcpServers": { "api-direct": { "serverUrl": "https://apidirect.io/mcp", "headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY" } } } } ``` ### Any other client Anything that speaks Streamable HTTP works. Clients that only support stdio can bridge with [`mcp-remote`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/mcp-remote): ```json { "mcpServers": { "api-direct": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://apidirect.io/mcp", "--header", "X-API-Key:${API_DIRECT_API_KEY}"], "env": { "API_DIRECT_API_KEY": "YOUR_API_KEY" } } } } ``` ## Tools | Platform | Tools | |---|---| | X / Twitter | `search_twitter`, `search_twitter_users`, `twitter_user_profile`, `twitter_user_tweets`, `twitter_user_replies`, `twitter_user_followers`, `twitter_user_following`, `twitter_verified_followers`, `twitter_tweet_details`, `twitter_tweet_comments`, `twitter_tweet_quotes`, `twitter_tweet_retweets`, `twitter_trends` | | Reddit | `search_reddit`, `search_reddit_comments`, `search_reddit_users` | | YouTube | `search_youtube`, `search_youtube_channels`, `youtube_video_details`, `youtube_channel_details`, `get_youtube_comments` | | Instagram | `search_instagram`, `search_instagram_users`, `instagram_user_profile`, `instagram_user_posts`, `instagram_user_followers`, `instagram_user_following`, `instagram_user_stories`, `instagram_user_highlights`, `instagram_highlight_stories`, `instagram_post_details`, `instagram_post_comments`, `instagram_comment_replies`, `instagram_post_likes`, `instagram_hashtag_posts` | | TikTok | `search_tiktok`, `search_tiktok_users`, `tiktok_user_profile`, `tiktok_video_details` | | Facebook | `search_facebook_posts`, `search_facebook_pages`, `search_facebook_videos`, `search_facebook_events`, `search_facebook_locations`, `facebook_page_details`, `facebook_page_posts`, `facebook_page_photos`, `facebook_page_videos`, `facebook_page_reels`, `facebook_page_reviews`, `facebook_group_details`, `facebook_group_posts`, `facebook_post_comments` | | Threads | `search_threads`, `search_threads_users`, `threads_user_profile`, `threads_user_posts` | | Bluesky | `search_bluesky`, `search_bluesky_users`, `bluesky_user_profile`, `bluesky_user_posts`, `bluesky_user_followers`, `bluesky_user_following`, `bluesky_user_likes`, `bluesky_post_details`, `bluesky_post_comments`, `bluesky_post_likes`, `bluesky_post_quotes`, `bluesky_post_reposts` | | Truth Social | `truthsocial_user_posts` | | Trustpilot | `search_trustpilot_companies`, `trustpilot_company_reviews`, `trustpilot_user_profile`, `search_trustpilot_categories`, `trustpilot_category_details`, `trustpilot_category_companies`, `trustpilot_category_newest` | | Amazon | `search_amazon_products`, `amazon_product_details`, `amazon_best_sellers`, `amazon_seller_profile`, `amazon_seller_products`, `amazon_seller_reviews` | | Google Maps | `search_places`, `place_details`, `place_reviews`, `place_photos` | | News, forums and web | `search_news`, `search_forums`, `search_web`, `google_ai_mode` | | Utilities | `batch_requests` (run up to 100 calls in one request), `list_skills`, `get_skill` | `tools/list` works without a key, so you can inspect the full schema of every tool before signing up. ## Skills The server also ships ready-made playbooks, exposed through `list_skills` / `get_skill` and as MCP prompts. Each one chains several tools with the right filters for a goal such as finding leads, tracking a competitor's unhappy customers, monitoring brand mentions or mining reviews. Ask your assistant to "list API Direct skills" to browse them. ## Example prompts - "Find Reddit threads from the last week where people ask for an alternative to Notion." - "What are people on X saying about the new iPhone today? Summarise the sentiment." - "Pull the 1-star Google Maps reviews for coffee shops in Austin and group the complaints." - "Get the latest TikTok videos for #skincare and list the creators with more than 100k followers." ## Links - Docs: https://apidirect.io/docs - OpenAPI spec: https://apidirect.io/openapi.json - Status: https://apidirect.io/status - Support: support@apidirect.io ## License The configuration examples and docs in this repository are MIT licensed.
