# Privacy Policy - Nosce te

Nosce te is a personal knowledge manager that replaces your Chrome new-tab page. The extension is designed to work locally. Your notes, logs, images, layout and settings are stored in your browser and are not sent to our servers.

## Summary

- We do not collect, transmit, sell or share your data.
- The extension does not require an account or sign-in.
- There is no account-based sync.
- We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising.
- The extension does not send data to servers operated by us.
- Data you create remains in your browser unless you choose to export it yourself.

## Data stored by the extension

The extension stores information that you create or choose to save. This data remains on your device.

This includes:

- **Notes and outlines** - text you enter into the daily panels.
- **Daily logs** - optional information you choose to record, such as mood, exercise, weight, sleep, steps, water and reading.
- **Panel names, colours and layout** - the names, colours and arrangement you choose for your page.
- **Saved pages** - when you click the extension's toolbar button on a web page, the page title, URL and favicon are added to your current day's outline.
- **Images and videos** - media you add to a day is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB.

The extension does not receive or store this information on an external server.

## Where your data is stored

The extension stores different types of data in the following browser storage systems:

- Notes, logs, panel names, colours and settings are stored in `chrome.storage.local`.
- Images and videos are stored in the browser's `IndexedDB`.

This data remains on your device and is not backed up to a server by the extension.

If you uninstall the extension, data stored by the extension may be removed by Chrome.

## Exporting and importing data

The **Export** feature allows you to create a `.zip` backup of your data and save it to a location you choose on your computer.

The **Import** feature allows you to load a previously exported backup back into the extension.

Both actions are started by you and use local files. The extension does not upload exported or imported data to an online service.

## The toolbar "Save this page" feature

The extension only reads information from the active browser tab when you click its toolbar button.

At that moment, it reads:

- The page title
- The page URL
- The page favicon

This information is added to your current day's outline.

The extension does not monitor your browsing history, does not continuously read the pages you visit and does not run on web pages unless you use the relevant extension feature.

## Favicons

Saved pages may display the favicon associated with the website.

The browser may load this image directly from the website that provides it. This request is made by the browser and is not sent to us. Nosce te does not receive your browsing information or favicon requests.

## Third-party services

Nosce te does not integrate with third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks or external SDKs.

## Children's privacy

The extension does not collect personal data and does not knowingly collect information from children.

## Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published in the same location. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will also be updated.
