Library Visitor Access Policy

(a) The primary mission of the National Defense University Library is to meet the mission requirements of the National Defense University. This is based on available resources, research and logistical support to students, staff, faculty, researchers and properly sponsored users. In addition the library will provide limited access to the below-identified groups. Limited access is defined as self-directed onsite usage, does not include use of copying facilities, loan of materials, cost-incurring research services, document delivery, FAX, interlibrary loan and other privileges and services granted to primary mission users.

(b) Categories of users:

(c) Others. Library users who obtain approval from the Library Director. This category can include alumni, scholars, Federal employees from non-DOD agencies, military retirees, foreign visitors, etc. There is a restriction on this category when the visitor is also a contractor. Current government ethics regulations restrict contractor access.

(d) NDU non-government employees, e.g., NDU Foundation researchers, INSS researchers. Service to this category is based on sponsorship and proxy circulation/service arrangements. Details available at the NDU Library's Information Center.

NOTE: Current Government ethics regulations restrict contractor access.

APPLICABLE REGULATION: NDU Reg 25-96
