Dairy Queen loves kids. We enjoy seeing little league teams celebrate at our
stores after games, children having dinner with their parents and teenagers coming in for
frozen treats at the end of a date. And if those youngsters ever become sick or injured,
we want to do help assure they have the best medical care available. Thats why the
Dairy Queen system has been a national sponsor of Childrens Miracle Network
(CMN) for the past 15 years, raising more than $36 million during that time. We are proud
of those efforts, knowing that 100 percent of our donations directly benefit the children
begin served at CMN-affiliated hospitals throughout North America. |
What is CMN?
CMN is an international non-profit organization dedicated to generating funds and
awareness programs to benefit children treated at 170 childrens hospitals throughout
the United States and Canada. CMN raises funds through innovative cause-marketing
promotions and other programs developed to meet the business objectives of its sponsors.
CMN also produces the largest national television fundraiser in North America, broadcast
live from Walt Disney World the weekend following the U.S. Memorial Day holiday.
CMNs hallmark is that 100 percent of locally generated donations stay in the
community to benefit kids treated at the local CMN hospitals.
Who does CMN serve?
CMN-affiliated hospitals cared for 14 million children in 1999.
Why do Dairy Queen stores support CMN?
Were in the business of treating kids and families right. By participating in CMN
fundraising, we are able to give something back to the communities in which we do
business.
How do Dairy Queen stores raise money for CMN?

MIRACLE TREATS Dairy Queen Miracle
Treats, paper caricatures of the popular Blizzard® Flavor Treat, are sold to
customers in participating stores for a $1 donation to CMN. The program is typically run
in the spring. A space is provided on each Treat for contributors to sign their name to
show their support of the cause. Often, customers sign the names of their family members
or children they know who have been treated at CMN-affiliated hospitals. In return for
their donation, customers receive $1 in coupons for Dairy Queen Royal Treat®
products. The Miracle Treats are then displayed throughout the Dairy Queen store. |

MILLION DOLLAR DAY Each year on the first
Saturday in May, stores throughout the Dairy Queen system unite to raise awareness
and donations for CMN. Operators intend to accomplish this by hosting outrageous
fundraisers, such as shaving their heads, standing on store rooftops, and becoming human
sundaes. On this day, the systems goal is to increase its annual donation by $1
million! |
LITTLE THINGS MEAN A LOT
Another successful fundraiser is simply collecting the pennies, nickels, dimes and
quarters that customers drop into collection canisters when visiting their Dairy Queen stores.
It may not seem like much at the time, but those coins add up quickly, and play a major
role in the system being able to donate millions to CMN.
