The Advisory Committee on Participatory Democracy is created by State law
with the expressed purpose of identifying and proposing solutions to any
problem concerning the level of participatory democracy, increasing or
facilitating the interaction of citizens with governing bodies, and
improving the operation of government. The Committee maintains a repository
of records related to its subject matter at the Nevada State Library and
Archives.
Appointed by the Director of the Department of Museums, Library and Arts,
the Committee is comprised of Nevadans from all walks of life, representing
political and geographic balance. The Committee advises the director on
special projects such as election training and get-out-the-vote programs,
awards for citizen participation, and humanities-based outreach projects.
For information about the records repository or special projects under
consideration, contact the Director's Office at 687-8393.
