The Carson City Mint (1870-1893) The Carson City Mint building is home to the Department of Museums, Library, and Arts', Nevada State Museum. Within the walls of this 1870 edifice, dimes through 20-dollar gold pieces were struck from silver and gold mined from the fabulous Comstock Lode centered on Virginia City. The original coin press No. 1, bullion scales, and an extensive coin collection are among the mint items on display at the museum. |
