MISSION
The Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, a state agency, is an educational institution whose purpose is to advance the understanding of the history, pre-history, and natural history of Nevada, emphasizing southern Nevada and its relationship with surrounding areas. It collects, researches, interprets, exhibits, and preserves Nevada's heritage for present and future generations. -- Revised and adopted by Museum Board March 1998

MUSEUM NEWS
Museum News is published quarterly as a benefit of membership in the Nevada State Museum & Historical Society

STORE
Publications on Nevada history and the Mohave Desert, Native American arts and crafts, and specialty items related to changing exhibits with a section of books, toys, and collectibles for children

LIBRARY
Research collection of photographs, maps, manuscripts, newspapers, and records pertaining to Nevada and Las Vegas history

PERMANENT EXHIBITS
"Biological Sciences," "Regional History," and "Earth Sciences Gallery"

CHANGING EXHIBITS
Corridors: "Sagebrush Stradivarius: A Desert Solo" and "Nevada Indian Baskets"

Adults $2.00, Museum Members and Children under 18 FREE

DAILY 9:00 - 5:00, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day

Membership, Volunteer and Docent Council, lectures, workshops for adults and for children, Traveling History Trunks, and school tours

SCHOOL TOUR DETAILS
* Reservations required, no admission charge
* Chaperones requested at one adult for every five children
* Tour times scheduled flexibly according to arrival time, age and total number of children
* Teacher information packet for pre- and post-vist use available for changing gallery exhibit
