State Government Approaches to Pesticide and Fertilizer Cleanup

The 1999 State Government Approaches to Pesticide and Fertilizer Cleanups conference will be the first conference of its kind. It will focus on work being conducted by several states and firms in the remediation of soil and ground water contaminated with pesticides and fertilizers. The objective of this conference is to allow state agencies, industry and consulting companies to share ideas and experiences regarding agricultural chemical cleanups.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is a co-sponsor of this conference. The conference coordinators are Michele Puchalski, Teresa McDill, and Patrick Kelly of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Participating organizations include the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture; Trade and Consumer Protection; Michigan Department of Agriculture; Illinois Department of Agriculture; Mississippi Department of Agriculture; Hyde Environmental, Inc.; Environmental Chemistry Consulting Services, Inc.; Illinois State Geological Survey; USDA; W.R. Grace and Co.; Baumgartner Environics, Inc.; Central Lakes Cooperative; Terracon Environmental, Inc.; and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

Registration and Information
Registration booths will be open at 7:00 a.m. and will be staffed throughout the day. If you have any questions during the conference, please stop at the registration booths and ask the staff with the blue registration ribbons.

Message Center/Problem Desk
Messages will be taken for persons attending the conference. A message board is located in the registration area. Please check the board for messages periodically to avoid missed calls. The main switchboard number for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport Hilton is (612) 854-2100.

Name Badges
Your name badge must be worn for entry to all conference activities. If you misplace your name badge, you may obtain a replacement at the Registration Area.

Sessions
All sessions will be held in the Ballroom A and B. Breaks will be held outside Ballroom A; lunch will be held in Ballroom D on Day 1 and in the Biscayne Bay and Flamingos rooms on first floor on Day 2. Each session will begin at the time scheduled.

Continental Breakfast, Breaks and Lunch
Continental breakfast and breaks will be located in the Prefunction Area. See your conference agenda for the times. For other meals, the Hilton, nearby hotels, and the Mall of America have a variety of restaurants and snack shops.

Conference Proceedings
One set of conference proceedings and a complete list of attendees will be given to each registered participant. Approximately one week after the conference, the proceedings along with the complete list of attendees will be available for printing from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's web site: www.mda.state.mn.us.
