| The division conduct long-range and strategic ag development planning and administers specific activities including: ag land preservation, environmental review and planning, biotechnology review and manure management education. This division and the Ag Finance Division are jointly responsible for the BMP and Sustainable Agriculture Loan Programs which help producers and local governments protect the environment. The division also includes Market Development and Promotion and the Plant Pest Survey and Biological Control Unit. The Marketing Section serves the agricultural community by identifying and expanding markets and uses for Minnesota farm products. Activities include ag-based industrial products, aquaculture, commodity research and promotion councils, livestock, market opportunity research, Minnesota Ag in the Classroom, Minnesota Grown, and processed foods.
