The name "Stone Soup" is from a folktale in which everyone shares their talents and resources to nourish a healthy community. In honoring Stone Soup's founder, Kathy Garabed, Temple Beth Isral presented her with the Social Action Award for tikkun olam-repair of the world. This award and the President's "Points of Light" Award recognize Stone Soup's impact on the predominantly impoverished Southeast Asians living in this two-block area. The Partnership has become a model for relationship-driven neighborhood revitalization, as fear and despair are conquered by the El Dorado Residents Association, churches, the City of Fresno, apartment owners and managers, Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries and numerous educational institutions. Individuals and organizations have joined together to provide health services, citizenship classes, parenting workshops, English courses, job counseling and children's programs to the 8,000 residents of El Dorado Park.

Stone Soup is located at:
1345 E. Bulldog Lane, Ste. 4

Stop by and view the wall behind the building which tells a story of immigrants leaving their impoverished home land and coming to America for better education, better jobs and a better life.
