Fresno  Mayor Jim Patterson joined Graybar CEO Carl Hall, Secretary of State Bill Jones, and other state and county officials today in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the company’s new 302,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Fresno.

Graybar, a Fortune 500 service provider, is engaged internationally in the wholesale distribution

of electrical and communications and data supplies and equipment.  The Fresno facility also functions as a designated national zone and is Graybar’s largest warehouse to date.

“We are delighted to welcome Graybar and their new facility to Fresno.  They join a growing number of national companies who have discovered Fresno’s central location in the state and our reputation as an ideal location for distribution,” Mayor Patterson said. The new Fresno warehouse maintains a multi-million dollar inventory and serves as a replenishment and shipping facility for Graybar branches in the region.  Growing from 48 employees when it opened in March, the Fresno Regional Zone warehouse now employs 100 people.

Graybar is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States, with approximately 8,200 employees.  The company has been in business for 130 years.  Annual sales in 1998 exceeded $3.7 billion.  The company has similar facilities in Dallas, Atlanta, Joliet, IL; Cranbury, NJ; and Stafford, TX.
