Here
are some great sites for Black History Month
- Photo Tour - Take a photo tour of the
civil rights movement. This site has a collection of 27
pictures documenting significant events in the struggle
for equal rights.
- United States Postage Stamps - See the
many African Americans that have been honored by the Post
Office. Included are pictures of the stamps and short
biological information about the person being recognized.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. - Stanford
University has a comprehensive listing of MLK,Jr.'s
papers and several links to other information about him.
If you have audio capabilities, you can hear a portion of
his "I Have a Dream"
speech.
- African Americans in the Sciences - Very
informative site with a list of the contributions of many
African Americans in the sciences. Included are links to
other pages, including one on George Washington Carver.
- Overview of Black History - World Book
has designed this site which provides a tour of five
different periods in Black American History.
