GRADE APPROPIATE: SPECIAL EDUCATION 6-8
OBJECTIVE: To introduce students to fractional parts, one-half, three fourths, one fourth, and one tenth. To correlate a given color with a specific fraction.
ACTIVITIES: Students will be given a 10x10 square, red, blue, yellow, and green yarn or string.The students will sew the correct fractional part into the square according to the color code given one-half=red, one-fourth=blue, three-fourths= green, one-tenth=yellow. Students must be able to relate all fractions to 100 as a whole.
EVALUATION: The teacher must check to make sure that all fractional parts sewn match with the correct color. The teacher also must make sure that the correct number of squares are sewn in each section.
