Have you ever had to wait for what seemed like forever to get a page to open and then received the message asking for a cookie?

What is a cookie?

Cookies are lines of text that identify your computer as being who you say it is. When asking for a cookie, the host machine of the site you are trying to open is simply saying "I have identified your computer and would like to store this search data so I don't have to do it next time you come here". This little piece of ID data is called a cookie. It allows the recipient computer to quickly identify your computer as being a legitimate computer with reliable address, thus making access to the page quicker and easier. Cookies are not dangerous.

If you are unsure of whether to say yes or no, remember this rule of thumb " Accept only cookies that are sent back to the original server."
