DATE: October 28, 1999 CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATION: Until Filled POSITION TITLE: Classroom Teacher JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide leadership to effectively plan, coordinate and implement programs of instruction which ensure students' opportunities to reach their highest social, emotional and academic potential. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated. Select and present materials required in the teaching assignment within the framework of the content limitations of state and system curriculum guides. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students. Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of preparation upon request of principal or designee. Plan and measure student objectives. Administer effective presentation skills (teaching, reteaching or extending concepts and skills). Provide students opportunity to process information. Monitor student involvement and progress. Provide students with feedback and correctives. Establish and maintain a positive learning climate. Organize and effective learning environment. Establish and maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and work cooperatively with all staff members in attaining school goals and objectives. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Attend staff meetings, department, team or grade level meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Work cooperatively with colleagues in planning instruction. Be available to students and parents for conferences. Follow ethical and professional practices in working with students, students' records, parents and colleagues. Participate in professional development activities as required. Participate as required in the appropriate state annual evaluation process. Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the principal or other appropriate administrator. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time...must be able to reach, stoop, kneel and crouch...must be able to lift 25 lbs, carry 15 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 100 lbs. REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an Accredited College or University and valid Georgia Teaching Certification in the appropriate field. REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to organize, coordinate, plan and direct the implementation of a comprehensive classroom instructional program. Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations and competency in counseling and evaluating student needs. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Successful teacher training and/or teaching experiences in the field/level to which assigned.
