Our schools seek to provide a challenging academic
curriculum that prepares every student for a productive life. In partnership with parents
and the greater community we aspire to foster in every student an aptitude and desire for
lifelong learning, a commitment to personal fitness, an appreciation of the arts, a
deep-rooted understanding of right and wrong, and a desire to participate responsibly in a
free and democratic society.

Excellence in education is the standard for the
Forsyth County School System. The Forsyth County School District is one of the most
rapidly growing school systems in the nation. At present, there are twelve primary and
elementary schools (K-5), four middle schools (6-8), three high schools (9-12), and one
alternative school (6-12). We are the countys largest employer, serving
approximately 15,670 students and consistently scoring in the top 8% of school systems in
the state. All Forsyth County public schools are accredited by the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools (SACS) and meet or exceed the definition and measurements used by the
Georgia Department of Education for Standard Schools. District Academic Goals guide
schools as they plan their individual programs that will meet the specific elementary,
middle and high school objectives.
The community has high
expectations for the districts educational programs and has supported the Forsyth
County schools with the passage of a $55 million bond referendum in 1995, the SPLOST
(Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax) in 1997, and in 1999, a bond referendum for $125
million. This support has resulted in the construction of new schools, facility
renovations and additions, construction of stadiums, gyms, auditoriums, and additional
instructional technology. Local School Advisory Committees (LSAC), PTA/PTOs, the
Cumming/Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, and civic organizations actively support and
sponsor business and community involvement programs at all levels. Our districts Strategic Plan was developed by over 120 members of our
community and continues to be the basis for decision making.
The enormous growth in
student population brings many challenges and opportunities, but in Forsyth County we are
committed to becoming the best school district in America. By working together we know
this can be accomplished.
Sincerely,
Dr. Allene Magill
