The Forsyth County school district serves approximately
15,560 students system-wide. All 20 schools are accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools and are Standard Schools as defined and measured by
the Georgia Department of Education.
- The Forsyth County School System is embraced by a progressive
community that supports a quality education for all students.
- Our schools are experiencing ever-increasing growth rates (10%
for the 1998-99 school year, and 9% for the 1999-00 school year) as more and more families
are attracted to our smaller, more caring schools where the type of personalized education
they are seeking for their children is available.
- The cohesiveness of the rapidly changing community is
evidenced by the overwhelming support (78.6%) of a massive $55 million bond referendum to
build new schools, upgrade and expand existing schools and implement state-of-the-art
technology throughout the system. Again, in 1997 the community supported a 1% tax to build
new schools and expand technology.
- North Middle and South Middle Schools have been replaced with
new facilities. Otwell has been named a National Blue Ribbon School, a Georgia
School of Excellence and a Georgia School of the Future. Vickery Creek Middle opened
in a new facility for the 1998-99 school year. All four schools offer a program rich
in opportunities for the middle school learner to grow socially, emotionally and
intellectually.
- Our three high schools offer a wide range of college prep and
advanced placement courses along with an expansive tech prep program that includes an
opportunity for students to participate in structured apprenticeship programs in a growing
number of career fields. Numerous opportunities in extra-curricular, athletic and
academic activities are available.
- Forsyth County Schools have a proven record of
excellence. A growing commitment to providing the best facilities, the best
instruction and the latest technology in every classroom creates a learning environment
that makes parents, teachers and students proud to call Forsyth County home.
