Usually, this happens when the computer has been turned off or crashed while in a Internet session. To solve this all you have to do is double click on My Computer, and then double click on Dial-Up Networking. Double click on the BSU.NET connection and sign on once. Now it should work again.

Question:

I'm being disconnected again and again, and I get the error message Unable to negotiate a compatible set of Network Protocols

Answer:

Every once in while the network components of Windows 95 load incorrectly, and then you have trouble connecting. The first thing to try is rebooting your computer (a good suggestion for most problems). If this doesn't work, then try this:

1. Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel

2. Once there, double click on the Network icon.

3. Choose TCP/IP and click Properties.

4. You will see a WINS Configuration tab there; click on it.

5. If Use DHCP Wins Resolution is selected, click on Disable WINS Resolution. If Disable WINS Resolution is selected, click on Use DHCP Wins Resolution.

6. Then click OK, then OK

7. Now allow it to reboot the computer and you should be set.

Question:

I typed the wrong password and username on my account for BSU.NET during installation. How do I change it?

Answer:

Just type the correct password and user name in the Connect To window. Once you successfully connect it will save the changes.

Question:

I have a save password option but it is always grayed out. How do I enable it?

Answer:

1. Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.

2. Once there double click on the Network icon.

3. Now click on the Add button.

4. A list of Network components that you can install comes up. Choose Client then click add again.

5. On the left side scroll down to Microsoft, and on the right side the Client for Microsoft Networks should appear. Select it and click OK.

6. Now go to the identification tab and type a name to identify the computer and type BSU.NET as your workgroup

7. Click OK again.

8. Now Windows 95 will want to reboot the machine, go ahead.

9. Next time you sign on to the Internet your should have the option for saving your password.
