Configuring Internet Mail Service

You can use any type of mail service application as long as you are comfortable with it. The configurations of any mail service are basically similar regardless of which one you choose. If you have Internet Mail already in use, proceed to Verifying the Configurations of Internet Mail.

  1. To access Internet Mail, click on the Mail icon in Internet Explorer and select Read Mail.
  2. If you have just installed Internet Mail and News and this is the first time you are accessing it, the following screen will appear. Otherwise, directly go to step 7. Click Next to continue this process.

  4. Enter your real name and e-mail address as assigned for you in the following fields. Click Next.

  6. Put mail.bsu.net in Incoming Mail(POP3) Server and Outgoing Mail (SMTP)Server. Click Next to continue.
  7. You will be asked to fill in your Email Account and password. You just put your username in Email Account box and your account password in Password box. Click Next button.

  9. Select I use a modem to access my e-mail if your computer uses a modem to access BSU.NET and choose BSU.NET as the Dial-Up Networking connection (Actually, this can be any name). Click Next, and Finish to end. Now you can use the built-in mail of Internet Browser to receive/send emails.
  10. If you had an account with existing provider, at the top of the Internet Mail window, click on Mail and go to Options. At minimum, the following information needs to be entered in the Server tab. For more information regarding other settings, simply click on the appropriate tab below.

  12. Finally, Click OK button. You are done.
