The Clinton Administration is trying to amnesty and reward hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from Central America by sneaking provisions into one of the year-end budget bills. The Administration wants to give Green Cards to illegal aliens from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Haiti and then allow a million or more of their relatives to join them. The above members of Congress will decide whether the Administration is successful. It is critical that you contact them NOW to oppose the Administration's cynical political ploy to curry favor with ethnic political leaders.
Tell the leaders in Congress to oppose the Administration's amnesty proposal for the following reasons:
- Another amnesty would encourage more illegal immigration. Forgiving those who have illegally entered the United States and rewarding them with legal permanent resident status will encourage further illegal immigration by people who will enter and wait for the next amnesty.
- Adding another massive amnesty in secret budget negotiations makes a mockery of the legislative process and shortchanges the American people. Neither the House nor the Senate has held hearings on the provisions the Administration wants to sneak into the last-minute budget bills. Such significant changes to immigration laws without the benefit of a full and open debate by the people's representatives cheapens the political process and shortchanges the American people.
- Another illegal alien amnesty would undermine efforts to provide temporary protection to people who really need it.
