Immigrants tend to concentrate and have a disproportionate impact on some states. Yet many states besides California, Texas and Florida are facing a major challenge from immigration. In addition to the magnitude of the problem, the issues also vary among the states.
Summary data for the U.S. as a whole is provided on the "Whole Country" page, including data for each state and the District of Columbia on the number of foreign-born residents, the foreign-born share of the population, the estimated number of illegal aliens, the number of new immigrants entering since 1991 who identified the state as their intended residence, and the projected population in twenty-five years if today's mass immigration continues. Similar data is available for selected metropolitan areas and for the country's largest cities.

Where we know of a local immigration reform group, we have added that information on the appropriate state issues page, and, where available, a web site link is furnished.
