"THERE IS NO COUNTRY LEFT"

Brunswick, GA, November 3 -- "We are in mourning", said Marlene Talbott, Former Ambassador to Honduras, now with the Organization of American States, Washington, DC, "Not one bridge is left standing, the Hurricane has cut our country in half. The people are without food, without clothes, without homes. Babies are dying in their mother's arms, this is a horrible disaster."

Severe flooding and landslides are ravaging farmlands and industry. Original estimates of fatalities continue to be revised as the flood waters continue to rise. Over 250,000 people have fled their homes and are taking refuge in schools, or whatever may be left standing in a country where poverty necessitates cardboard or trashbag housing. "This hurricane didn't respect social class", said Talbott. "People are desperate everywhere - please help us, we need your compassion."

MAP International, a Brunswick, GA, based nonprofit humanitarian organization has already sent over $30,041.33 in Hurricane Mitch relief to Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Another shipment of medicines valued at approximately $100,000 is scheduled to depart MAP's warehouse for Honduras within 24 hours. "We need your help. We depend on donations to provide assistance for this disaster. So many have cried out for help, and it isn't over yet", said MAP spokesperson, Suzanne Baroody.
