MAP International's Programs
Our mission is to promote the Total Health of people
living in the world's poorest communities.
We carry out that mission in the broad programmatic
areas of community health development, disease prevention and eradication, relief and
rehabilitation and global health advocacy.
Within those broad areas, we are currently focusing
have chosen to focus on three primary program activities:

of Essential Medicines
Meeting the material needs of hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, community pharmacies and
relief centers in more than 100 nations.
MAP is one the largest providers of donated medicines and medical
supplies in the world. Since 1954, MAP's Medical Supply Program has partnered with other
organizations and with hospitals, clinics and physicians in more than 130 nations. MAP
continues to be a leader in the development of standards for the use of donated medicines.
In times of natural or man-made disaster, MAP responds quickly with appropriate medicines
requested from the field.
High-quality, FDA-approved medicines and supplies valued at some $100
million each year.
Rapid response to humanitarian emergencies both in the U.S. and around
the world.
Specially-designed medicine kits for
physicians engaged in short-term volunteer missions.

Promotion of
Comprehensive Community Health
Promoting the Total Health needs of individuals, families and communities.
The conditions that impact the health of people living in the world's
poorest communities are complex. As a result, interventions to address these conditions
must be comprehensive. Cultural, economical, familial and spiritual factors, along with
nutrition, sanitation and access to health resources, impact health. MAP's comprehensive
health training programs recognize the need to address all of the conditions that impact
health .
Identifying, training, equipping and supporting community health
promoters as a primary tool for improving the health of individuals, families and
communities.
Promoting Total Health concepts through workshops and communication
tools.
Offering life-changing fellowships to allow U.S. medical students a
chance to witness, firsthand, comprehensive health services in developing world
communities.

Prevention of HIV/AIDS
Mobilizing local churches as effective grass roots organizations for promoting HIV/AIDS
education, prevention, control and care.
Through training, materials, leadership development and networking,
MAP encourages churches and Christian leaders to take an active role in combating the
HIV/AIDS epidemic. MAP recognizes the church as a key grass roots organization that can
effectively deal with community health problems such as HIV/AIDS.
Internationally-recognized HIV/AIDS program to encourage African
churches to fight the epidemic.
Network of Latin American churches and leaders involved in HIV/AIDS
programs targeting women and youth.
Promoting the role of churches in HIV/AIDS to international health and
policy organizations.
