Sometimes it's the simplest things that make a lifetime of difference - especially in the life of a child"

I am thrilled at the tremendous impact MAP is having in the lives of the poorest children and families in our world today. It is growing and getting better and more effective every year.

The mission of MAP International has never been more clear. Since Ray Knighton founded MAP International in 1954, we have been dedicated to promoting the total health of people living in the world' poorest communities. We have been accomplishing that through provision of medicines, the prevention of disease and the promotion of community health development.

Whether we are providing vital mdeicines or training community health workers, the goal is the same - to build healthy families and communities. It is that simple. And we're making great progress.

Last year we surpassed the $1 billion mark in medicines provided to some of our world's poorest communities. And we have trained thousands of community health workers to understand the spiritual, physical, emotional and social aspects of total health. Yet our task is far from finished.

Every 3.76 seconds, another child under the age of 5 dies of an easily preventable illness - yet this year alone over 8 million children under the age of 5 will die needlessly because of the five killers: pneumonia, diarrhea, measles, malaria and malnutrition.

We really depend on the partnership of friends and partner agencies. Because of our work together, many will live and grow to become all God intended them to become. That is the greatest gift you could ever give.
