Kristalnacht RememberedTikkun Olam(This page may take a few minutes to load)
During the same program, Rebbe Lowy read an email regarding current threats against Jews still living in Russia. Made by a member of the Russian Parliament, these threats echo Hitler's lies of 60 years ago. Following the assembly, students were split into groups of four - and each group was given a picture of a synagogue destroyed by the Nazis. The intention of the project was to create models of these holy buildings as a memorial, as well as our desire for Tikkun Olam, the repair of a broken world.
For two hours, students designed, drew, cut, pasted, and painted. The results show not only the ingenuity and problem-solving skills of our students, but also the depth of their feelings for the destruction of these holy places. Below are pictures of the finished projects, currently on display in the CTA Library.
CTA thanks our new art teacher Patty DuBell, as well as Marcia Hershfield, Julie Moskowitz, and Yehudah Lowy for their help with this project. |
