Lets go to Leicester!
(and get rather tipsy)
Ok Ive been meaning to organise another party for a rather extended length of time which has been hampered with "Basil Fawlty" hotel managers and all manner of other things. Well apart from floods and a large godzilla type thing rampaging across the hotels Im trying to contact buuuuut anyway......
Ive managed to get ahold of some prices for a few places in Leicester fairly near to the town centre, which is a bonus for retaurants and places of beverage consumption, err I mean bars :o) Now the prices Ive gotten are really quite reasonable for the area that theyre in. Your basically looking at bout £50 for a single bed and breakfast which for a large city such as leicester is pretty bloody good when you think about it isn't it??? ;o)
WHY change a good idea?. Well as they say throughout the world when fiddling with computers, "if it aint broke don't fix it". So since Nottingham was such an all time most excellent party I thought, why not do the same again??, sounds good eh?? ;O) What this entails is turning up over friday at respective hotels getting all settled in then meeting up with everyone at a set location for a quite beer, yes QUITE, it has to be quite or you'll end up like me and Zerran when we drank the bar dry of Bud on the Friday in Nottingham, but what the hey theyre your livers!!!! ;o)
OK so after Friday night there will be a function room set up at a hotel in the area, I'll try and get the most central one but price is obviously a guiding factor here Im afraid :o( Now once in the function room we get lots of computers and hook em all up. Then we play games, swop warez errr I didn't say that!, make many backup copies of various games and gawp at my immense mp3 collection :o) So then we get to the evening and we go and get fed, I should be able to find some sort of restaurant for this in the meantime though we could always eat at the hotel. Now comes the drinking and debauchery!!! (woo hoo!)
This basicaly involves going around Leicester and enjoying ourselves, I know a fair few places in Liescester such as a damn fine rock club called Alcatraz (coming Hammy, Wu, Carni, Merly, Slim ??, windmills are promised ;o). Anyway there's allot of places that we can go to and Im sure we can ask the hotels for a VERY VERY late bar :o)
Then we get to Sunday. Lets just say this is the morning where you wake up and wander why you feel like the phantom of the opera before realising that one side of your face is resting on a painful corner of the door handle outside someone elses room, or somet like that!!!. So then we all say our goodbyes wandering how much w'eve all spent and go home only to jump onto ICQ and talk about what we got up to!!!
Anyway this is just a preliminary outline to see what people think of the idea so any surggestions and ideas (or even a little helper who lives in the area???? ;o) please drop me a mail at :
Finally if enough people are interested in this I'll start making the arrangements as soon as possible. The dates that I had in mind in January were either the weekend of the 21st to the 23rd or the weekend of the 28th to the 30th. Whichever people are happiest with with be the one chosen I guess :o)
So why DID I choose Leicester, well first off I sort of know my way around the place and also because its a very nice city indeed :o) Also it's roughly in th middle of the country so nobody has to go a REALLY stupid distance to get to the party :o) Im in for a 4 hour drive anyway so don't go complaining anyone! Im going to try and get some decent directions together for the hotels this time so that half of clanUK doesn't spend more time looking for the hotel than they did getting to the city itself!! :o)
Anyway Im looking forward to replies full of ideas but most of all I'd like to be able to say yes or no to this fairly soon so that hotels can be booked and final arrangements made :o) This way the hotel doesn't go and give all the rooms and things to some horrible executive "knees up", eeeewwww what a terrible thought.
OK that's it folks :o)
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this, hope to see as many of you as possible in January :o)Brutus.
