Strategic Alliance Includes eShare Acting as Management Consultant to Lycos, 24/7 Community Site Support

Commack, New York (October 8, 1997) — eShare Technologies http://www.eshare.com, the leader in live, Web-based communications, today announced a strategic alliance with Lycos Inc. (NASDAQ: LCOS) http://www.lycos.com, the ever-expanding global Internet and World Wide Web navigation center, which will bring its millions of members a variety of new chat and threaded message discussion options. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Lycos application of eShare Expressions 3.0 enables the site to offer additional services to its members, who can choose from 17 Web content categories, called "Web Guides." Now, in addition to dividing time among a variety of information resources, members can launch themselves into a live real-time Web chat with others who share the same interests. The chat site itself, modeled after the well-known Lycos home page, enables members to see how many people are chatting and who they are, and either jump right into the discussion or invite someone into a private chat room. The software also offers a menu box of colorful graphic images today's version of early, text-based "emoticons" which can be inserted into a message with a simple mouse click.

In addition, Lycos members can develop a personal "profile," a snapshot of themselves, which others can view by a mouseclick. While this feature in itself is not unusual, what is unique is the ability for the member to include their own virtual "World Wide Web" tour within that profile. With a single mouse click, the viewer gets launched on a tour of that person's favorite sites on the Internet. As soon as the tour starts, that profile's owner is notified, who can then choose to guide the tour themselves, through a chat window, or let the viewer cruise alone.

Lycos is the first strategic alliance eShare has announced to implement the company's upgraded Expressions Communications Suite 3.0 software, used on many major Internet sites, including MailBoxes Etc., The Military Network, CLIQNOW, WebDeveloper.com, GeoCities, UUnet, MTV, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Reuters, and Fox.

An integral part of the alliance is eShare Technologies serving as Lycos "community management" consultant. In this unique arrangement, eShare Technologies will oversee the chat, message board and WWW tour functions, and also coordinate monthly chat events in each of the 17 categories, beginning on October 8. For example, a chat session in the Entertainment Web Guide might feature a television celebrity, or a chat with Santa Claus might take place inside the Kids Web Guide. As part of the alliance, eShare Technologies will be responsible for booking guests, fielding questions, organizing the threaded discussion groups, customer service, marketing and publicizing events, and will also host a backup "hotsite," with full 24/7 coverage.

Other aspects of the agreement include the integration of eShare's logo and hotlink on each Lycos' chat page, and a Lycos search button integrated into eShare Technologies Expressions software.
