eShare Technologies Named in Silicon Alley Reporter's Top 100

For Second Consecutive Year, eShare Tops the Charts

COMMACK, N.Y. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Dec. 22, 1998 — For the second year in a row, eShare Technologies has been selected to receive the Silicon Alley Reporter's Top 100 award for excellence in new media technology innovation. The award is given to the top 100 companies in the New York area that have excelled in technology innovation and development, leading the way into the next millennium. The goal of the Silicon Alley 100 is to showcase some of the most talented, innovative and creative executives who impact New York's booming Internet industry.

According to Silicon Alley Reporter editor and founder, Jason McCabe Calacanis, "eShare is one of the best examples of commercial software development in the New York area. I've been very impressed with their ability to not only excel, but become the leader, in a very competitive marketplace." He added, "eShare's hard work and success guaranteed them a spot in the Silicon Alley 100 for the second year in a row."

To select the Silicon Alley 100, Silicon Alley Reporter staff and a panel of eight industry experts compiled a list of the individuals they felt had significantly impacted New York's high tech belt, Silicon Alley, during the past year. The advisory group included Gene DeRose, Jupiter Communications; Austin Bunn, the Village Voice; Alex Lynch, the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison; and Steve King from the accounting firm Virtual Growth.

The Silicon Alley Reporter staff then ranked the nominees based on five categories: vision, a key quality for anyone in the Internet industry; execution, because all of the vision in the world does not add up to much without the ability to get the job done; money, and the ability to raise money, because good ideas and execution need fuel to become a reality; network, of individuals and business contacts because the new media business requires strategic partnerships; and presence which refers to a company's position in a particular industry segment as well as its momentum in a particular marketplace.

"It is a pleasure to be recognized as part of the Silicon Alley 100 for the second year in a row," said James Tito, CEO of eShare Technologies. "Our continued dedication to the online community has enabled eShare to become a leader in this growing market segment."
