WWF.com's Usage Minutes and Advertising Impressions "Leap" With the Addition of eShare's Expressions Chat Technology Scalable Software Solutions Help the WWF Grow its Fan Community; WWF.com to Use eShare Expressions to Add Bulletin Boards, Chat Sites for WWF Talent Commack, NY April 27, 1999 eShare Technologies, Inc. and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) New Media Network have formed a partnership that gives thousands of wrestling fans a place to chat about their favorite (and not so favorite) WWF talent 24-hours-a-day. Since it added eShare Technologies' scalable Expressions® chat products to its site last month, WWF.com's usage minutes, the amount of time a user spends on the site, and advertising impressions, the number of ads it displays, have leaped by 20%. "eShare Technologies is the undisputed leader in community-building products and after using Expressions for a month now it's clear why," said Robert Mitchell, Senior Vice President of New Media for Titan Sports. "The product fit easily into our current technology environment and added business value to our new media initiatives from the first day it was live." Using the highly scalable eShare Expressions, thousands of wrestling fans around the world can now simultaneously chat in real-time on WWF.com about WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and other WWF favorites without having to worry about crashes, browser plug-ins or downloads. In an effort to build its burgeoning community, the WWF and eShare plan to work together over the coming weeks to add online message boards capabilities throughout the WWF Network, as well as chat sites for some of the WWF's more well-known talent. In addition, the WWF.com plans to host large-scale, moderated chat events later this year. "As one might imagine, the World Wrestling Federation is serious about scalability and community…very serious," said Neil Toomb, Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development for eShare Technologies. "Previously they were using an iChat-based solution that supported one-tenth the number of users that we are able to accommodate at one time. We're ecstatic that they have chosen to partner with us - they are a world-class organization and a leader on the Web." The WWF.com site is one of the most popular on the World Wide Web and receives more than 80 million page views a month. According to Media Metrix (2/99), the site is the number one-ranked sports site among 12-17 years old, a highly desirable demographic sought out by advertisers. To build on its momentum and to promote its new eShare-powered chats, the WWF has launched a new keyword-based, online advertising campaign that is running on the major portal sites. eShare Expressions powers the chat capabilities of several of the top 10 sites on Media Metrix' list, including Internet pioneers GeoCities, Lycos, and Tripod. eShare Expressions is a scalable suite of chat products that enables customers to increase communications, collaboration and community building. The product suite features: chat, bulletin boards, online presentations and an API set to allow for integration with legacy databases and directories. eShare Expressions features a powerful chat server that allows users to interact in real-time using any browser. No special client software, downloads, or plug-ins are necessary and users have their choice of Java or HTML formats.
