LFCHS Students Help Make Blood Drive "Very Successful"

Whew! There have been many updates and news stories added in the last week. For starters, be sure to check out Jayme Johnson's information about LFCHS students helping out with the recent blood drive, as well as news about students in the Medical Careers class.

In Other News...

Yep . . . more paperbacks have arrived at the LFCHS Media Center. The My Avatar project page has information about he professional screenwriting software being used to assemble the Avatar script. Mr. Snyder has updated his classroom page with a note about AP American History.

Meanwhile, at Lindbergh, Ms. Cox tells how Ms. Madsen taught some Spanish weather words to Lindbergh 3rd graders. Ms. Gratke lists some of the "I Love to Read" special days coming up. Also, Ms. Ratzloff has a WONDERFUL, lengthy article about "What's going on in the Art room at Lindbergh!" Also at Lindbergh, Mr. Telander has news about Elizabeth Kingi, the district world resource teacher from Kenya, and Ms. Zak has a number of classroom notes, including information about the students' study of wolves.

Finally, Mr. Girtz tells us how Ms. Bolan is creating a portfolio of students' study of the Holocaust at the Middle School.

Graduation Standards testing dates at the High School

LFCHS Knowledge Bowl Teams Meet With Success

The Human Resources Office has posted an opening for an Educational Paraprofessional.

Nurse Jayme Johnson has tips for preventing illnesses, as well as news about two more medical careers students passing the skills portion of the Nursing Assistant - Registered test.

At Lindbergh Elementary, Ms. Gratke has updated her page, and at the Middle School Ms. Bolan has posted a copy of a letter sent home to parents about students viewing the movie Schindler's List.

Nurse Jayme Johnson has information about the Little Falls Orthopedic Clinic's S.T.A.R. (Sportsmedicine Training and Athletic Rehabilitation) Program staff scheduling dates at LFCHS to assess and advise on prevention and treatment of athletic injuries.

Blood Drive on Jan. 13 and 14

Nurse Jayme Johnson is encouraging high school students (age 17 or above) to participate in the blood drive at St. Francis Center this coming week. Students in Medical Careers will be assisting.

Ms. Lundorff has posted details Graduation Standards Testing Guidelines for Students with IEPs or 504 Plans.

A number of teachers at Lindbergh Elementary have updated their pages. Mr. Swenson has classroom notes about students studying the circulatory system, and an upcoming test on the American Revolution. Meanwhile, Ms. Gratke is publicizing Linbergh Beach Day, which is coming up on January 26, and Mr. Gomez has listed the dates for upcoming classroom and school spelling bees.

District Graduation Standards Site Created

A Graduation Standards site has been created and includes a listing of dates and times when help sessions are being offered.

The LFCHS Media Center site has information about new ACT Preparation Software which has been installed.

Ms. Lundorff has posted information about Transition Planning.

Ms. Sharon's page has a story about old sayings that come from New Years Eve customs.

Mr. Telander's page discusses News Bowl 2000.

Also, Mr. Girtz's site provides an update on Middle School technology happenings.

Discussion Board Added . . . and More

A discussion board is the next feature being implemented on our District Web Site! If you point your browser to http://www.lfalls.k12.mn.us/discus you will see a "beta" discussion system. It is currently being used for two discussion topics. First, as a discussion area for the My Avatar project (you may read their postings, but will need a username/password to post any messages or replies . . . just e-mail me if you would like to be involved in the discussion.

Second, there is also an open discussion board for TECHNICAL SUPPORT questions/answers/comments . . . just an open place to post information, tips, etc. or ask for help.

In other news...
The LFCHS Media Center page has some info about new iMacs which have arrived and are being set up. Sue P. has also added information to the new LFCHS Career Center page.

Lois Anderson has some great information about STEPS TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE, a program offering vocational and independent living training in the community for students with disabilities.

Over Christmas a small press release about our web site makeover appeared in the Morrison County Record. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page and look at the page counter, you will see that a fair number of people were checking us out over the holidays (the counter was started a few days before Christmas vacation and was at about 250 when I left school on the Wednesday afternoon before Christmas).
