Science Expo!
Posted Thursday, March 16, 2000
I am now home on Maternity leave but have left our class in great hands!. I am only a click away through the email for the kids. They will have the opportunity to send me messages on milk break.

The class is currently working hard on preparing their Science Expo experiments and displays. This activity ties in all of the science process skills, many technology/ computer lab skills we have learned, and written skills. Each pair of students is studying an extension on a topic from our Magnets and Electricity Unit. Science Expo is on April 14. Please plan to comes see the great things we do in Fourth Grade at Dr. Knight!

Magnets and Electricity Unit
Posted Saturday, January 29, 2000
Along with a study of a inventor, 4th graders will be learning about the properities of magnets, static electricity, and all about electricity. How does it travel? How do circuits work? How does a switch work? What is an electromagnet? How is electricity made? These will be questions addressed as we use the science process skills to conduct many experiments to discover the answers.

Science isn't always doing experiments. We will be learning a lot about electricity by continuing our emphasis on reading fluency practice. Students will be reading information in pairs out loud about sources of electricity and then be making a web of "what they know" afterwards.

Inventor Research Project
Posted Saturday, January 29, 2000
4th Graders - Use these web sites to research your assigned inventor of electrical inventions.

If you can't find your inventor here ask your teacher for the How Things Work CD and look in the Inventor Index there.
