National Humor Month
Posted Sunday, April 02, 2000
April is National Humor Month. Enjoy a few good jokes each day before and after school. Remember, they always say it takes more muscles to frown then it does to smile. It is also said that laughing is a good stress releaser. So reduce some stress and rest a few muscles by enjoying some good jokes. Check out a few of the joke web sites that I have listed if you get a chance.

Bones and Muscles
Posted Monday, March 20, 2000
Later this week we will be starting our unit on Bones and Muscles. This is a wonderful unit filled with lots of learning experiences.

Students will be reading a book entitled "Owls in the Family" with their paired reading partner. After reading this book, they will be writing a summary of the novel. They will also be writing the next chapter of the novel.

The students will also be reading a book entitled "Tiger Eyes" as a part of their silent reading time. Upon completion of this book, students will be working in groups to design an owl habitat of one of the many North American Owls.

Students will also be working with a partner to find out just what the mystery object is in our science lessons. Throughout these lessons students will be learning how our bones, muscles, and joints all work together to keep us moving.

After studying about the joints in our body, students will prepare a demonstration of on the of the five types of joints in the human body.

Students will also be using their writing skills to write a letter to request an action or request information in regards to owls.

As you can see, this will be a fun and exciting unit for the students.

Check out the web sites that are included to learn more about owls and bones and muscles.
