Wireless Networking Taking Shape Posted Tuesday, February 08, 2000 The high school has taken the first steps toward creating a school-wide wireless data network. Using Apple Computer's "Airport" system of transmitters and wireless network cards, iMacs and iBooks equipped with wireless cards will be able to access the district network from anywhere in the building without plugging into a wall jack. Network access means internet connection and access to network printers and servers. Since iBooks can run on battery power, they will be totally "wireless." Our goal is to expand network access beyond computer labs and limited locations in classrooms.
