MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: (A-1-1) - $2,012.77 - $2,446.53 (5 Steps)

Current vacancy requires the work hours of Monday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Examination process establishes an eligibility list for future vacancies for a period of one year.

Undesignated fringe benefit allotment of $463.38/month and dental coverage, life insurance, and membership in the Public Employees’ Retirement System.

THE POSITION: An individual in this position performs a variety of clerical work involving specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures, and performs other related duties as assigned. Current vacancy exists in the Human Resources Office.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Meet and interact with the public and employees in situations that require tact, discretion and courtesy. Give information and interpretations of policies or procedures which requires knowledge of departmental or office activities and rules. Maintain and monitor accurate, neat and efficient electronic and manual filing systems. Open, sort and classify incoming mail and other information for efficient disbursement to appropriate recipients. Type and prepare letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions and other materials from rough drafts, oral instructions, marginal notes or dictating equipment. Compile information from various sources and type on a variety of forms. Provide a variety of clerical duties involving routine and specific tasks. Handle confidential information with complete security. Meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner. Alert appropriate staff when emergencies exist. Open, sort and classify incoming mail and packages and other information for efficient disbursement to appropriate recipients. For the current vacancy in the Personnel Department, employer will provide individualized training upon employment or transfer for the following specific duties: Serve as division receptionist as assigned. Schedule the public and employees for various programs. Fingerprint and process information. Purge personnel files and prepare material for microfilming as directed. Schedule appointments and examinations, secure facilities, and assemble examination materials as directed. Update, copy and assemble materials for the appropriate enlistment of new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. One year of work experience in clerical work, including typing and word processing tasks. Keyboarding speed at 50 net words per minute*. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. A valid California I.D./California Drivers License. Desirable: Previous experience in a public school setting or institution of higher education. Experience in the field of the department in which the vacancy occurs. Certification in computer technology.

Written Examination Weighted 50%

General Fitness Interview Weighted 50%

*Official verification within the last six months of your keyboarding (typing) skills must be submitted prior to general fitness interview. Failure to submit the above certifications by that day will be considered a withdrawal from the examination process.
