WHAT IS EAST BAY MAPP?

East Bay MAPP is a special capacity-building project of the Grants Resource Center, funded privately through external grant dollars. The purpose of East Bay MAPP is to strengthen school and community-based programs (whether public or private), by providing or accessing affordable management/technical assistance services, and by helping schools and community-based organizations to work together.

WHAT KINDS OF SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?

Individual organization/program assessment, problem identification, and problem solving

Assistance connecting with potential community partners

Referral to affordable consulting services and/or management training opportunities for specific technical assistance needs

Access to private funding pool for urgent technical assistance mini-grants

Assistance in identifying potential funding sources, using the resources of the Grants Center library

Professional review of draft grant proposals

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE SERVICES?

We work with schools and school-related programs throughout Alameda County, and with other community-based organizations (CBOs) located specifically in central and southern Alameda County (from San Leandro south through Fremont). CBOs in northern Alameda County and in the Tri-Valley area are referred to sister East Bay MAPP providers located in each of those areas.

WHO ARE THE STAFF?

The lead staff is Lucy Smallsreed, MSW and MS Finance. Lucy brings over 20 years of experience working with foundations and local organizations in grantmaking, planning, and nonprofit management. Library research and support services are provided by the Grants Center librarian, Judy Echeandia. The project is supervised by Claire Schooley, Grants Resource Center Director and presenter of ACOE’s highly regarded grantwriting workshops.
