Corel Application Service Provider (ASP) / Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) Programs
Electronic delivery of software and services is a significant trend that is shaping the future of computing. New channels for software procurement are evolving into new channels, as small-to-mid-size businesses increasingly view software as a collection of services rather than as a singular product. Corel is positioned at the forefront of this movement as we continue our commitment to our existing vertical channels and pursue opportunities in emerging markets. A key model in this new paradigm of electronic software delivery is the Application Service Provider (ASP). ASP’s are defined as organizations that deliver software-based services across a wide-area network from an independent third-party in return for payment. The ASP market has exploded in the last 12 months, prompting industry analysts such as Forrester, IDC and GIGA to predict that this market could grow to between $2-$26 billion. In fact, GIGA estimates that this market will represent over 50 per cent of all software purchases and deliveries by the year 2002. To learn more about Corel’s ASP intiatives, please read our ASP Briefing Document. (231KB .pdf)

WordPerfect® Family Pack (released November 29, 1999)
Just in time for the holidays, Corel developed an easy-to-use, feature-packed suite specifically tailored to novice computer users looking for the ideal home software package. WordPerfect® Family Pack helps users create professional-looking letters, reports, newsletters, school projects, greeting cards, party decorations and certificates. This package also allows users to keep track of home assets, the family budget and more.

WordPerfect Family Pack is part of Corel’s vertical market segmentation strategy—building on the foundation of the WordPerfect line, and offering a package that effectively meets the needs of the home user. A study by IDC indicated that the home productivity software market, while already very prominent and growing rapidly, is still under-penetrated with very few vendors successfully meeting the needs of the home user. WordPerfect Family Pack is expressly designed to meet the needs of the home market and will be competing in the same niche as Microsoft’s Works Suite.
