About Curriculum Snapshots

Imagine your in-box stuffed with educational software, Web site listings, and descriptions of new technologies. If you prefer to observe teachers using these technology resources, Curriculum Snapshots is the guide for you. It allows busy teachers who want to integrate technology into their own classrooms to "visit" other classrooms for ideas and inspiration.

The snapshots offered here are not intended to be ready-made lesson plans. They are glimpses into the classrooms of real teachers at various stages of technology integration. They illustrate appropriate and creative uses of technology at many grade levels and within different subject areas.

Curriculum Snapshots grew out of lesson plans developed in Franklin County (Virginia) Public Schools. This work was accomplished as a result of a $1.5 million U.S. Department of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grant awarded to the county in 1996. The grant provided staff development and support services for all staff in the southwest region of Virginia and telecommunications access for Franklin County Schools.

View selected Curriculum Snapshots on-line. At this time, selected snapshots from the publication are available on-line as examples. Additional snapshots, as they are collected, will become available in this on-line format only. Search the database by instructional focus, grade, keyword in the content, or software or hardware used.

Submit your own Snapshot for on-line publication. All entries will be reviewed by Lori Tate, Instructional Technology Associate at AEL and editor of Curriculum Snapshots. All teachers with entries selected for publication in the on-line database will be entered in a drawing to win a digital camera. The drawing will be held December 1, 2000.
